Short Essay on My Favorite Subject History

My all-time favorite subject had been history. It had always enabled me to connect with the rich past and heritage of my country. I have learned about the great legends of all times who have been brave and compassionate towards people for example Akbar the Great, Asoka, Sher Shah and so many other. History teaches us about the ancient civilizations like the Mohenjadaro and Harappa civilization. The inscriptions and the coins depict a lot about that age. And it is very pleasant to know that the ancient society was also very civilized and they made well planned cities and means of survival.

The reasons of fall and rise of empires and societies and the deeds done by the kings, queens and emperors for the upliftment of the society moves me. It makes one think of the background one belongs to and the reason why we are here and where we are. These days’ lots of movies have come up which show us the rich heritage of our country and the enthusiasm people had for others for example Jodha Akbar, Mangal Pandey and so on.

Knowledge of history is very important and it also lets us make the right decision even in the contemporary phase. Lots of decisions which have been taken by the emperors created bright futures for their subjects and some of the decisions even created blunders. So like it is said that we should learn from the mistakes and experiences of others, studying history totally enables us to learn and study more.

Through history we know the valor and bravery shown by various people for our freedom struggle. Even ladies like Rani Lakshmi Bai fought bravely and courageously for the nation. We learn about the leaders like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi, and many others who endured the treachery of British and their sacrifices made India a free country. The information on various wars, revolutions and movements all comes from history.

More so the knowledge of this subject connects us to the two greatest epics of our nation namely Ramayana and Mahabharata. The future of a country is also estimated with the help of the historical or past data. Therefore it is imperative to study History.
