My City Hyderabad is the capital of Telangana and also the de jure capital of Andhra Pradesh. Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana share the city and it is the common capital between the two states. Earlier Telangana and Andhra Pradesh was just one state and was known as Andhra Pradesh, but due to the differences and culture amongst the people, the state was divided into two parts. Hyderabad is the fourth most populated city and the sixth most populated agglomeration in the country. The city is built on the hilly terrain and has a lot of artificial lakes. Hyderabad was established in the year 1591 by Muhammad QuliQutb Shah. He ruled the city for a century before the Mughals captured it and started ruling. The Nizams of Hyderabad was created in the year 1724 by Asif Jah, who was the viceroy of the Mughal dynasty. The Nizams later became the princely state and ruled the region. The city was under the princely ruled till the British came into power. The monuments and historical sites are still under the name of Qutb Shah, which is very much visible. The city was then ruled by the British. After independence, Hyderabad became the capital of Andhra Pradesh. But in 2014, Hyderabad became the capital of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana; a state separated from Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad will serve as the joint capital of the two states until the year 2025 as this arrangement will end in that year.
